hi,
i think the sony fdr-ax100 has great resolution at 4k, but not very practical for web. True, the 1080p of this camera is great too.

But i find the colors are more flat than the sony hxr-nx30. The colors are more vivid on the nx30.

Plus, the movements of camera are more blurry shaky with the fdr-ax100.

The bokeh is a big plus on the ax100 but the out of focus is hard to really adjust to have great results, it looks more fake than on a dslr. On a dslr, the manual focus lense gives way better results.

For me, i will stick with hxr-nx30.
If i want bokeh, i will go with a dslr.
I feel that ax100 is a little in-between and has some issues. Maybe a pro version would be better.

No 4k video is going to be practical for the web, but as you noticed it does 1080p in 4.2.2 which is better color space than most cameras.

The AX100 has a vivid setting, but frankly professional shooters want to do the final punch up of contrast and gamma curve in post so they have perfect control. Relying on what's baked in with the camera means that certain scenes will be too contrasty or hide shadows, etc.

All CMOS cameras have issues with motion unless they are a global shutter camera. Therefore I assume you're taking about the OIS. I wouldn't know. I don't use the built in stabilization since OIS always reduces resolution. I choose to control my motion instead. I can see if you're doing skater videos where it may be an issue though.

There is manual focus on the AX100 with a large ring. It's not something unique to DSLRs. The great thing about DSLRs and the AX100 is they are stealth cameras.

I will be interested to see if the x70 offers something new and what the 4k upgrade costs.
