Sony F35: with glimmer glass?

Hello group:

A friend of mine has suggested that i try pairing my F35- Sony pl lenses with glimmer glass filters. He tells me the look will be very filmic, however I am thinking using any soft filters will reduce the sharpness in the footage. Has anyone on this board tried this combination?

That is kind of a wuestion only you can answer for yourself. It won’t ever look like film. So anything you do is your own aesthetic choice.

Glimmer is diffused. I have used it on an F55.
Pearlescent has stronger haloing, and my 1/8 strength is still noticeably diffused, but a sense of resolution remains.

I have a 1/16 digital diffusion which does very little, but i like it.

Black Pro Mist 1/8 and 1/4 is all I’ve ever used... it lifts the blacks up a tad which helps the F35 and adds a tiny bloom. Again... best way is to test it. Share your results, would help the community.

Something looking "Filmic" is very subjective.

That being said, a 1/8 Glimmerglass on your wides and a 1/4 on your tights can add a nice bloom to your highlights, soften skin, and add a silver sparkle, if that's the look your after. Might be nice for certain commercials.

Once upon a time gold diffusion filters were all the rage for skin tones.
