Sony f35 serial list (how many f35's made?)

I was just wondering how many F35's went into production, my serial is 10066 (#66th I believe). That seems really low, I wonder how many were made- who has the highest serial # here ?

I believe there were about 125 in the total production run.

Welcome to the world of top level production cameras. There's a reason that in this rarified air this camera used to cost upwards of $150K.

Wow, only 125? Mine is n. 98. I always thought that had to be quite early in the production run, but apparently not.

Mine is a riddle: 11015.

Starting with 11### and not 10### is the odd part. I'd be really surprised if they made over 1,000 of these. I wonder what the 11 means. Maybe a 2nd gen revision? Numbering snafu?

As far as highest number in the 10### series, according to this site there were a couple F35's that were stolen on Christmas 2012 that were numbers 10133 and 10141. Outside of that there's precious little info out there.

Really intrigued by my 11015 unit now.

EDIT: Found 11036 on ebay. So at least mine isn't alone in the 11### series. Re-assuring, but no less puzzling. I also found #10139 on ebay, so that's another high-ish number relative to the ~125 Mitch mentioned. A quick scan of the remaining few cameras on offer on eBay didn't have pics to show the serial #'s, or they couldn't be read. If you're buying I'd definitely ask for serial #'s so that you can be sure you're not buying a stolen unit.

My camera is 10006. I believe it was the first F35 in Europe.

I used to have two F900s. The F900 had a revision half-way through its life to become the F900/3. The original F900 had a serial beginning 10xxx, but the F900/3 began 12xxx. I think Sony may have followed the same naming protocol with the F35.

My guess is there are a few hundred of them about, no more.

Mine's 11007, another odd one. Possibly the beginning number has something to do with where it was sold? I have no clue, just making things up here. :)

James, I think you win some kind of award, sir.

Mine is 11036--so if there was a revision, what could it have been?

10117

How many F23's?

Although a later number according to the 125 mine has seen a lot of use and didn't have the upgrade of the lens port. Was this an upgrade or an option you chose at order.

Does anyone with a silver PL ring have a 10 or anyone with a black PL ring have a 11? Although it was possible to upgrade like those f35 heads for sale on ebay so a silver PL could have a 10 number but no black PL's should have a 11.

What I find most puzzling and interesting is the number of plugs on logic boards inside the camera that have nothing plugged into them.

The processing boards in the camera are identical for the F35 and the F23, but they are plugged in different ways depending on which you have.

I believe the revision MIGHT be when they added LDS etc... to the camera.

it seems that there was a technical bulletin called: how to upgrade f35 to f35/1 (1237485744412) but apparently Sony deleted all the knowledge database for the f35! unable to access any info about it anymore when 15 days ago there were still lot of bulletins available from sony.pro
why?

Looks like only 213 were made.

Those 213 units pulled in roughly $50 million for Sony when they sold brand new at $200k a piece. I'd say these cameras were fairly profitable for them back in the day. I'm not so confident that every rental house that bought them can say the same. 95% capital depreciation in 4 years is worse than a car.

Note to self: NEVER buy a hot new camera. Ever.

Did you see what F35s rented for? I know a Genesis or F35 rented for nearly £2,000 a DAY way back when here, so I think most safely made their money back.

The Genesis was even more expensive, being earlier and hand-made!
