Sony F35 on the Movi M10

You'd think there's no chance... well here you go!

I still need to think how to power this thing. The problem I have is that the power cable we have is too thick and the thing would be so much better with a thiner cable. Specially if the battery was attached to my body. Perhaps I need to have a custom power cable built just for this.

The Movi can take up to 12 pounds and the F35 as you see it is about 9 pounds right now. That GL optics lens is heavy though. The thing will balance better with a Zeiss standard speed or similar. I just ordered a helios 58mm on PL mount (probably the lightest PL mount lens you can buy).

Nice!

I'll help you, all we need is a super thin cable with the lemo connection. Ive been toying with a hi fly gimbal and realized it might be possible. I'll see if I can get one made

That's cool!

I think the F35 appears to be bigger than it actually is. Just the body and a lens is really not that big.

Talking about gimbal stabilizers, was having a conversation with somebody who was saying they are killing the steadicam because they do the same but you need much less skill to use. To which I said I don't think so as I think they are just a different tool. Gimbals are great but because of the design is really not the best for eye level or higher shots. A steadicam will still be better or more comfortable. Gimbals are great for waist level shots though.

You can ask actual gymbal operators, but its very tough to use this weight for long periods of time. I've thought alot about getting one for my F55 but even as light as it is long takes can be hard to do. For that reason I stick with the steadicam.

BTW if F35 operators are interested in good thin SDI cables you can buy RG-174u and put on your own BNC connectors fairly easily. It's super thin and flexible, I used it to rewire my steadicam.
