Hello, me and my brother got the F35 last week, first we shot some stuffs at low light and saw alot of noise. After go over the manual, we found out that there is a custom mode with an option to supress the noise and the result is fantastic. I cant explain but for some reason, I got really clean results with proper LUT. Also, when perform a convertion from the dpx to cineform rgb 16bit before grading also yield cleaner result.
Since I use the no self-timecoded Gemini 444, my workflow is to use Cineform RGB 16bit 444 as master footage. I need someone to explain this cineform things!!!

From my understanding, as long as I keep the gamma mode at Slog, I alway have 800% dynamic range? Do I have to shoot in Cine EI to have full Dynamic Range
Thanks you !!!

Shot with a Red Zoom 18-50 t2.9
Mode: Custom
Gamma: S-log
Iso 450 @ T2.9
5600K mode: On
Noise Supression: Low (30%)
Recorder: Gemini 444
Sound Recorder: Iphone5
Perfume: AXE
Grade with Davinci Resolve w/o Post Denoise
Color Grading by HuyCT

PS: Those are framegrab and a 240 mbps h264 mp4 video to show the noise level and the graded, I swear to god there was no post denoise, no film grain added
PS2: today is a great day because i found out that noise supression on the F35's menu, much better life in post !!!
PS3: Oh and i have learnd that the most important thing to consider when shooting with the F35...is the script!

I've tinkered with the noise suppression option, but still not sure I like it.

However, to shoot with no noise suppression you need a very high quality codec - I find with Cineform the bitrate going over 400mbps quite easily to get the quality I need. ProRes 4444 just isn't as good at all.

Really nice screens.

Yes I went through the noise suppression menu. I was playing around with slightly increasing the detail to counter the softness from the noise suppression. Makes me wonder if it's easier to control this in post though.

Has anyone seen the skin detail gate? Apparently designed to have less detail as to not focus on the blemishes. I haven't done any tests to see if this works or even how to set it up properly.

Im the person who do the grading for those post and I found out these following things:

Since im not a tech guru, I found out that use the noise suppression help saving alot of cpu and gpu resource to neatvideo in post.
Onboard Denoise looks more nature than post denoise (proly sony engineering is great)
The results are visually the same
Easy to render and grade

I missed this thread. Looks very good and clean. Best low light from F35 so far. Garage looks like was dark and only ISO450 T2.9 not bad.
