Sony f3 pl primes on a 5d mii?

The Sony PL primes aren't Zeiss...
As to whether they'll fit on a 5D or not, there are two questions in that -- one, will they actually physically fit, and two, will they cover the sensor or will there be a big black vignetting circle. I don't know the answer to either, but I'm just letting you know that those are the specific issues. Any PL lens will fit on a PL mount, but the Canon is different because it has the mirror box in it and many PL lenses will not physically fit on a Canon DSLR because of the mirror. As far as I know it is usually the wider-angle lenses that won't fit, so the Sony lenses being primarily on the longer end, maybe it's possible that they will fit. But the second issue is that PL-mount glass is made to cover a 35mm or Super35mm cinema film frame. The 35mm film frame is half the size of the Canon 5D sensor, and Super35 is just a little bit bigger than 35mm cine film, so it would still be just over half the size of the Canon sensor. Some PL-mount 35mm cine lenses have a big enough image circle that they can cover the entire 5D sensor, but I don't know if these Sony lenses do.

Might as well flush a big wallet full of money down the toilet.
If you want "the best" in "zeiss primes" for "the 5Dees" then get yourself:
A. Contax zeiss
b. Zeiss Zf
C. Zeiss Ze
D. Zeiss cp.2
Three of which are almost the same glass elements, different iris, different barrels, different mounts.
A PL mount on a 5D is a HUGE waste of time.

The 5DII is also already 3 Years old. Maybe you want a Sony nxcam fs100 and a Sony zeiss 24-70mm f2.8 lens.

Not a waste of time if you want VistaVision depth of filed and to use CP1 or CP2 lenses with proper PL mounts, or 38 other common cinema lenses.
