Sony F3 HDSDI output configuration with PIX 240

Anyone using the pix240 with their F3? I just tried routing the pix240 to an F3 and I'm having trouble enabling the record sync sony flag function. I have used the pix240 with the HPX250 and the panasonic flags read properly. I don't believe it is the pix but a setting within the F3 that I'm missing. If anyone is using the pix240 with their F3 what HDSDI output settings have you routed in the F3's menu? I'm also wondering if it is related to having not bought the S-log firmware? I have read that the firmware upgrade enables multiple HD routing configurations that are disabled if you have not upgraded

I'm also having trouble triggering the F3 via timecode which I tested with the HPX250 and found the PIX240 was able to trigger it fine reading its timecode. Anyone have any suggestions to what I might be doing wrong and if it is pix240 related or if I need to configure the F3 's HDSDI output differently?

Thanks for the help,

I use a PIX240 with the F3...
You have two ways of triggering record on the PIX from the camera using HD SDI alone.

1/ With timecode = Set the PIX "System - Rec Start/Stop" menu to "Timecode" and the "Timecode/Sync - Timecode Mode" menu to "Ext TC (SDI,HDMI)" Nothing specific needs to be changed on the F3 and the pix should drop into record whenever timecode is running on the camera.

2/ With Sony SDI Flag = Just set the PIX "System - Rec Start/Stop" menu to "Sony-SDI Flag". This won't work unless you also set the F3 to send the flag by setting the "Video Set - SDI Rec Control" menu to "HD SDI Remote I/F" on the F3.

Option 2 wasn't available on the original PIX firmware so make sure you're using the latest (I think they're up to 1.05 now?) This now my preferred option as a lot of my clients like time of day timecode, which of course you can't do with option 1.

You definitely don't need the S-log option on the F3 to set the SDI-flag. It's always been carried on the SDI output of the F3 but I'm not sure if the earlier F3 firmware also sent it down Dual Link A or B...? I do know it certainly does now, even without S-Log - so you might need the latest firmware on this as well (1.31).

Hope this helps.

(P.S. Just had another thought - obviously if you're using Dual Link A or B outputs without S-Log you also need to set the "Video Set - Dual-Link & Gamma Select" menu to "1.5G YPbPr422 & Video" on the F3 for these to work.)
