Sony f3 FFD (sony f mount)

Anyone know what the actual FFD of the sony "f" mount is on the f3? Trying to figure out if I can get a custom lens mount made for it. Many thanks.

(I guess I could figure this out if I had one in front of me by measuring the length of the PL adapter that comes with the camera- but I dont have one to measure)

"This is the first salvo in alternatives to the venerable PL mount, which is 52 mm deep. The F3 mount is about 18 mm deep (exact measurement to be divulged later) — made possible by lack of mirror shutter, electronic finder and custom lenses. Sony’s other small camera, the NXCAM Super 35, is also Super 35mm format, and uses the E mount, which is 18mm from lens flange to sensor" Excerpt from FD Times article ... on http://www.fdtimes.com/news/sony/sony-18-252-mm-t3-8-zoom/ ... that's why I 'think' it's 18 mm

18mm for the FZ mount would make technical sense, as future FZ mount lenses can be optically identical to E-mount lenses with the major difference being in the housing, mechanics, and a larger locking mount to support heavier lenses. This would justify the development of what we should presume to be incredibly low sales volumes of FZ lenses. For instance, that 14X zoom with a constant T4 would make a nice high-end E-mount lens.

I was always under the impression that like the EX3 mount, which looks similar to the FZ mount, would mean a fairly large FFD for the FZ (I assumed around ~25mm). Either way, generally, I would presume that these mounts would want to keep below 27.8mm, which is the FFD for Leica M rangefinders, and one of the shortest film-based mounts- which would mean the maximum FFD distance allowable if the mount plans on having a large array of lenses adapted to it.

The fact that the F3 also has an adjustable back focus adjustment means that being off a little on the adapter can be easily compensated.
