Hi,

company aja has just announced the release of thunderbolt supporrted io device called Io XT Overview...it seems like a good solution for capturing
dony f3 s-log on set using it with the new line of thunderbolt macbook pros...what do you think could this a good and obviously cheaper alternative to
external recorders such as cinedeck extreme and gemini...it seems that aja io xt supports dual link recording and that is gooooood....

Dual link and 4:4:4 HD support
Io XT supports single link 3G 4:4:4 and dual link 4:4:4 HD-SDI, with full bandwidth 4:4:4 RGB at 10-bits for 1080i, 1080p, 1080PsF and 720p formats. Io XT can even convert between 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 formats for single link HD-SDI monitoring and output.

Looks like pricing is $1495.

Of course, this seems like a competitor to the Blackmagic Ultrastudio 3D, which retails for $995. One key difference is the Blackmagic Ultrastudio 3d doesn't have loopthrough/daisychaining... just one port.

Seems like a good option so you don't have to buy expensive SSDs used with other recorders. If you can attach a Laptop would make sense.. then use cheaper E-sata drives. Nice.

I think a new thunderbold enabled notebook computer will cost a lot more than a few SSD drives.
