Sony EX3 vs Panasonic HPX500

Not sure I'm following you. Panasonic makes the HPX500 for those who want CCD. For those who have been clamoring for three years that they want higher-resolution chips, they introduced the 300. They're offering something for both crowds.

If Panasonics really listen to the customer and participates in the forums and builds their products based largely on suggestions, then they would have know how much people from this forum loved CCD and hated CMOS and we should have see CCD instead of CMOS on 300. In the end of the day it is all marketing, Panny saw the success and acceptance of EX1/3 and rollout camera with CMOS in order to play catch-up game. Whether this is future direction or to test market, we shall wait and see.

Is Sony the only manufacturer that has not released any information before NAB2009 on their new products? Panasonic released the new HPX300 info, well they had to because it leaked :). JVC released the HM700 and HM100. The JVC 700 opted to go with a new CCD chips over Cmos, I would'nt be surprised if JVC has a spectacular year.

Cmos is cheaper to manufacture over CCDs, I guess that's how all these sub 10k cameras can go full HD without pixel shifting at this price. The only way to improve rolling shutter issues is via Software in the camera? I think thats the direction its heading for.
