This camera has been pulled from a working video production studio in Palmer, Alaska. We recently have upgraded all of our cameras and decks to HD so we have no use for this camera. The camera is in good, working shape and shot incredible images until the day it was pulled from daily use. Note, the camera has been taken care of but should be considered used. There are quite a few little scratches and marks on the camera from use, all of which are cosmetic. The lens is clean with no scratches or marks on the glass (I have always had a UV filter on it to protect it) and the viewfinder is clean as well. This camera shoots incredible video and is a full 2/3" 3CCD broadcast grade camera. If you'd like to see one of the more recent projects produced entirely with this camera check out: http://dcalaska.com/recent_work/recent5.wmv .
The coolest thing about this camera is that it has native 16x9 chips. This means that it really looks amazing, much more impressive than shooting native 4x3 or even using an anamorphic adapter on a 4x3 camera. Additionally, with twice the chip size of a normal consumer camera, this thing really has colors that pop. Finally, with the 16x lens with 2x extender, you can get incredible closeups from long distances. Finally, with 184 minute tapes you can record a substantial amount of time on one tape. Absolutely wonderful. I'd shoot for an entire day and never change the tape.
This is the perfect camera for churches, event videographers, independent producers and even broadcast personnel.
The only issues this camera has is that it sometimes when using the smaller mini-dv tapes (not recommended anyway) will give tape slack errors due to the smaller reel size. With the larger DVCAM tapes this absolutely isn't an issue. Additionally, one of the screw mounts on the top of the camera has been damaged slightly so that some on camera accessories cannot be mounted there. Finally, when using hyper gain or really high gain there does seem to be one hot pixel. During normal operation with little or no gain, however, this doesn't show at all.
