Sony DSLRs look almost perfect on paper

Just been looking at the specs for the A33 & A55 and it's interesting that they have a lot of interesting features including full autofocus during recording as well as in-body OIS. The OIS would be really handy as I use my 550D with a sigma 30mm 1.4 lens (I often need the wide aperture due to low light) and having the same setup but with OIS would be a huge bonus.

On the negative side, they only seem to record 1080i and I prefer 720 50p, so that's a pain. Just wondering if anybody has tried these cameras out for video and what they thought?

ahhhh?¿? where did you hear that ?¿? It´s inbody stabilization and works in video - they don´t have manual exposure control and when it´s in af mode the camera uses by default the largest aperture which not coincidentally gives you the shortest dof

I read it somewhere in one of the first reviews. To be honest, I could have gotten it wrong and confused the lack of manual controls instead.
I just didn't like the video specs, and a few other things, so I scratched it off my list.
If it works, I'd sure like to see a demonstration video to see how well it works.

You may like the Olympus Pen, it records 50 720P for the UK, has good built-in IS, has the extensive ISO and White Balances, all manual controls, in-board photo editing and various photo and video effects, and the camera is pocket sized to boot - it uses.the same lenses as the GH if I'm not mistaken (I may be.) It's worth checking out.

we´re waiting for the a77 which will have more control , better evf etc - sometime 2011
