S-Log2, High-speed shutter, high-speed AF, simultaneous 16MP stills while recording 4K video, same great lens as the RX10, I've probably missed some stuff. Read it for yourself (press release): http://www.dpreview.com/articles/0995267996/sony-announces-rx10-ii

See more details at the official site: http://www.sony.net/Products/di/en-us/products/ht7k/index.html

$1,300, pre-orders start June 17.

Amazing. I've always wanted to get the first RX10. Now I may have to pre-order a camera for the first time in my life.

You can shoot a movie with this one. Same size as S16mm. I wonder about the audio (does is use the xlr on hot shoe like the others). oops. went to their site, and yes it does.

This one has been rumored about for ages (as "RX20" - so the rumors got the model number wrong) but it will give those compact Panasonic models a run for their money due to a superior lens and only a marginally smaller sensor.

Don't forget the Canon XC10 too!

The only thing that I'm initially a bit disappointed by was this:
The capacity for shooting 4K differs slightly on each of the two cameras, as the more professionally styled RX10 II can shoot 4K video at extended lengths (up to 29 minutes in the US)
I wonder if that means that there will be no time limit on 1080P recording though?

I have used an RX10 for most of my productions for the last year or so. I had used the GH2. The RX10 gives me better results than the GH2. I do go back to the GH2 if I need a wider shot using my 7-14 lens.
I will definitely be buying the RX10 II. I did buy the Panasonic FZ1000 but sent it back. Even converting the 4K video to 1080 was not as good as the RX10. I have also used a GH4 but it's low light performance
was not that great. I have to shoot available light inside motorhomes and the RX10 has been the only camera that gives me quality video at an acceptable ISO. Of course that Sony a7II looks awesome as well!

Great to hear, HVXguy. I've always wondered why the RX10 wasn't much more popular. I've been thinking about it as a documentary camera. It seems mostly ideal for that if you want to avoid the handycam form factor and don't mind the apparent record time limit.

Yeah I think many people see the fixed lens and go nah.....
But the RX10 is a power zoom. Very usable. I even have a wired remote for it.
Which I hope will work with the RX10 II.
I was editing something for a producer who still uses a HVX.
I was showing him some of the RX10 footage and was impressed.
Maybe I can sell him my RX10 and not tell him about the RX10 II - heh heh

Don't forget the Canon XC10 too! ...
But XC10 is a grand more, so RX10 MK II is a great bang for the buck regardless*. And it compresses the sub-$5,000 4K market like an accordion.

*Personally, I still prefer the Canon color but this looks like a top deal.

<Sensor Readout Number of effective pixels>
Quality Priority: 240fps/250fps (1,824x1,026), 480fps/500fps (1,676x566), 960fps/1000fps (1,136x384)/Shoot Time Priority: 240fps/250fps (1,676x566), 480fps/500fps (1,136x384), 960fps/1000fps (800x270)

Great add ones for sure in this little guy, the High Speed will sell tons of these for sure. 240 at FHD is great and the 480fps mode doesnt look half bad as well based on samples...but makes you wonder where Sony are headed in the APS-C world with the A7000 camera now that the small sensor and Full Frame cameras are out...

I use the 720p120 mode on my a7S relatively often, even if it's super soft and full of artifacts. I'm sure the 720p-ish 480p on this one must look better. You're probably much more likely to get your clips killed because of flickering lights than because of lack of detail.

Does the RX10 II have image stabilization? and the RX100 IV?

@Darktide Media: I aggree with that: it's very odd that the a6100, a7000, or whatever they'll call it, is not out yet. I thought it would be because of overheating issues, but if the RX100 is out I doubt that's the case. Maybe a sensor issue? Maybe it's a NEX-style body with IBIS and it's even more tightly packed than the RX100? Or maybe they kept 4K out of that one, planning to release it a few months ago, got delayed because of some minor issue, and now realized it would be an odd launch and delayed it a bit more in order to get 4K back in.
