Which one would you buy : canon XA10 or sony cx900?

I don't know if the sony cx900 with 1inch sensor will make real difference with the canon xa10 1/3 inch sensor?

A 1" sensor will give you loads more depth of field control over a 1/3" sensor for a much more cinematic look. However, you might want to consider the Sony FDR-AX100 4k camera. A 1" sensor and it can shoot HD, but it also has 4k capability and if down rez'd to HD you can still see the definition difference. It also has great codec selection, uses SD cards for inexpensive recording, and has a manual ring for both focus and zoom control. (some other interesting manual controls too.)

Yes it seems very good.
Im looking to buy a SOny HNR-NX30 instead for his XLR capabilities, balanced optical steadyshot (very good stabilization). Would you suggest the cx900 or ax100 instead ? thanks in advance.

I presume you mean the HXR-NX30, right? Again, its 1080p and only 1/2.88 sensor (~1/3") It will look more video like. Depends on what you shoot. If you are shooting sports and need to keep everything in focus go for the 1/3".

If you want to shoot narative stories that concentrate 1 or 2 people at a time, go for a bigger sensor. It also has the optical stabilzation.

XLR adapters can be bought separately. Sony makes one specifically for the AX100 but it's pricey.

Beachtek makes good ones that are cheaper.

Right now the AX100 is sth unique on the market.
A friend just bought it for the single reason of putting it on a small carbon crane, for doing widish crane establishing shots.
If you have the money for it, I´d buy it over the 900.
