Sony chip vs: chipless min DV tapes

I'm in a jam because of the Sony inventory shutdown, my tape vendors can only supply me with Sony Excellence with chips. I'm using the tapes on a DVX100a and I only ever use Sony Excellence without chips. Asisde fro the added cost, are there any issues using a chip type tape on a non- chip camera?

No, just higher expense for the chip that you're not going to use. The tape inside the shell should be identical.

Thanks so much Barry....I'm picking some up tomorrow but just my usual "professional" paranoia wanted to be sure. The Sony inventory issue has really created havoc with many vendors in the North East and here in Florida also. EVERYBODY is back ordered on product. It's beginning to trickle in now though.
