FS7: Sony Catalyst Browse. Importing custom LUTs?

Hi friends,

I love using Catalyst Browse to review dailies.

Is it possible to bring in Custom LUTs? I'm hoping to bring in Bert Degraeve's amazing Arri Look LUTs, but I can't find it in the manual or figure it out.

What steps am I missing?

Thanks

You can do this but not from Catalyst Browse UI. You have to place them in correct directory where your Catalyst is installed. They will be available only in a specific setting: for example only for sgamut3.cine if you'll place them in corresponding directory in user subdirectory. If you'll struggle to do so let me know, I will give you exact instructions later.

It's pretty simple, here is an instruction what you have to do:
(OS X instructions, but I guess on Windows it's pretty similar- somewhere in Program Files directories)

1. Go to Applications directory and find Catalyst Browse
2. Right click on it and chose "Show Package Content"
3. Go to Contents-->Resources-->Color Management-->Looks

There you have a directories for each input gamut: sgamut, sgamut3, sgamut3.cine.
You have to copy your Luts in corresponding directory. There's even factory txt file "reserved_for_user_looks.txt" in sgamut3 but you can put them in other ones as well.
In previous versions only 33x33x33 cubes were working over there but with the latest update I noticed that 65x65x65 cubes works as well. Keep in mind that after every update all the looks disappear. You have to copy them again.

Thanks Alohype,

I love this. Thanks.

I noticed that I can now set the color profile to Bert Degraeve's Arri LUT, but whenever I click on another clip it defaults back to LC709a.

Anyway to just keep it on the new LUT and now have it switch back to default every time which is kind of annoying?

I noticed that the stock LUTs were numbered from 1. to 4. I went in a added .5 and .6 to the custom LUTs and now they stay as default! Strange work around, but I'll take it.

Yeah, sorry I've missed to note that step. You can also reorder them, so your custom LUT will come first. You just have to rename all of them with corresponding numbers.
