Has anyone looked into the Sony Camera Remote API beta SDK. It seems like it could lead to perhaps opening up some interesting options that are available on other Sony cameras. And it also be a good alternative to the current "Sony Play Memories and Remote apps" that has such limited use for both stills and video.

Yes i looked. I wanted to see whether i could wirelessly control the focus of a lens through it, but that functionality isn't available. IMHO the feature set is quite limited and you've basically got what you can do via the sony remote app

I did drop them a line asked about whether they could open up that functionality, i don't see any *technical* reason why not as there must be a link between the body and lens as the contrast autofocus is done by the body.
