Sony breaks the law in advertising

yeah true... i guess they get free initial advertising, then free "mad" advertising too boot, all for the price of some code fine.

Doesnt mean its right though... but probally is effective.

ya, seen this on CNN. Pretty low budget if you ask me. Vandalizing abandoned buildings to push a product is not cool.

"With PSP being a portable product, our target is what we consider to be urban nomads," Smith told Wired News.

Is it me or is that statement lacking in the logic department?

With sony's track record with standards.. I'm sure they are meeting their standards perfectly.

..now as to how compatible their standards are to everyone else's standards is another question entirly...

I'm sure I don't need to clarify this but what they are saying is that the expected buyer is a street punk slash gangster slash bling bling mofo... so they decided to market to those kids in the most direct relatable way.

It's a sad statement about Sony and the "target market group" in those areas.

Personally, and a former "Sony Only" buyer, I think Sony has focused too heavily on marketing (like Dell who spends more money on advertising then the quality of their product) and let their product development and product quality slip far behind their competitor "Panasonic" the latter of whom developed and captured their (Sony) broadcast BetaCAM market with the DVCPro. Now it appears that more and more are turning to Panasonic Pro cameras over the Sony brand. I know for one, we compared both and the Panasonic were the BEST VALUE, let alone the BEST performer.
