Sony Australia/NZ bundling SLOG with new F3s for free

Hi Peter

Who did you speak to re. getting the SLOG on SxS? I've contacted Lemac and they say the camera would need to go in to Sony to have it 'installed'. Thanks.

The guys at Videocraft said I would get the upgrade on an SxS card, they may have the wrong information. Personally the card would be nicer, but if it's a factory-fit that's okay.
 
Glad for you guys locally who can now get this without having to pay an exorbitant amount.

I notice a few posts getting a little this v this, use of the word fan boys etc. Lets keep this OT please.
 
Videocraft said they confirmed with Sony that the deal is an S-Log SxS card (for Australia).

Ouch!
The production paid the full amount. I am happy they did. It shows in every frame on the screen. I think that money would have been also useful in other areas to help us through and boy ... I am trying to squeeze every cent I have to PUT it on the screen. Nearly 5k for a firmware upgrade is not peanuts for this production. I wish it was free then too.

I am very grateful to Sony Australia that was on hand and very helpful in what they did for us. Don't want to praise them just for the sake of it. I was just reporting a mere fact of life and a note in the production diary. If that is offensive to users of other brands, I am sorry.
I have used most of the cameras that have been mentioned in my previous post and I strive to choose if possible the right tool for the right job given the budget available.

And to be off topic once and for all: These cameras have a very short life span, all with positives and negatives, I would not give them more than two years, but I have a fetish for glass. That's why I call them sometimes 'glorified lens caps'.... ;) Have to admit, I am addicted to glass.

Maybe some of you work on films that 5k is the budget for one morning tea only. If needed I'll stay away from this forum and let other learned peers to share their knowledge.
