Sony Announcement on October 18th (Sony FS5 Mark II or Sony a7SIII ?)

FS6 would be interesting but do Sony do even numbers for their pro gear? They appear to prefer 3, 5, 7 and 9. So FS3 then or FS9?

Stepping back to the Betacam days: UVW-100, BVW-200; 300; 300A; 400; 400A; D600... D30; D50... All even numbers. And that's just what I can think of off of the top of my head.

If a camera with a built-in 4k upconverter is what they consider "exciting" nowadays, either they lost touch completely or their market is very different from what I had in my mind. I hope they also have something else.

I'm quite sure Sony makes way more money with broadcast than with indie moviemakers. So I think that is indeed their market.

I'm not so sure. Broadcast is "high margin, low volume". Just the a6000 probably made 10 times more profit than the whole broadcast division.

edit: looking here: https://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/library/fr/14q4_sony.pdf
So, maybe not: sales of "digital cameras, interchangeable lens cameras and video cameras" are about twice as much as "broadcast and professional use products", which probably includes also the FS and F lines. I'm sure margins are at least twice as high in the second bundle.
So maybe that broadcast camera is "exciting" for them. Bummer.

I guess Sony is on a roll when it comes to many of their cameras and they will keep spitting them out and I would like to see an FS9 with bells and whistles that goes to the moon and back.

There is info on the new Sony HXC-FB80 4K Studio Camera at www.hdwarrior.co.uk

As I mentioned in a previous post, the Photo Plus Expo is in New York next week. I'm sure Sony will announce new cameras at Photo plus.

I figure they need an "affordable" Faux 4K camera for smaller markets within and outside of the large economies. The level of excitement, however, may need to be curbed.

New post at sonyalpharumors says the a7S III is still coming. "Soon". Hope it meets my expectations because I'm gonna be exhausted by the time it comes out.

Well, you surely know how this works. First, there are rumors of a camera. Then, there are rumors of firmware upgrades. By the time the last firmware upgrade rumor is eliminated, it's time for the new camera. Rumor.

It's coming, it isn't coming, it is, it isn't, it is, it isn't...articles & titles will be updated/changed until like the day of the show, ha.
