Sony A99 short film "The Calling"

I just found "The Calling" through a Vimeo search. Wanted to look what DVXuser had to say and only found this thread?
WTF?
No one cares?
I would just for the fun of it like to rip the video and upload it again with "shot on the 5DIII" just to see how it would be picked up then.
There are many great shot´s in the video and although it isn't on top of my list, this camera for sure got my attention again.

From the first shot, (lady in the canoe) it screams video, at least to my eyes it does. I think it will make one hell of a good cam for run and gun, documentary, music vids, ect... I just wouldn't shoot a narrative on it until I see more clips.

with that said, I still think it's a great cam, Love the audio features, xlr, headphones, super sharp, full frame, I want one:)

I have this camera under my loupe, so here is my findings and why i decide to not buy it.
Pro:
FF sensor with nice DR
Weather sealing.
Silent know for adjustment when recording
XLR audio input option
In body stabilization

Cons:
-Image too soft (personal preference)
-Crop on video recording.
-Aliasing
-Moire
-Lens selection is limited
-XLR audio input option is too expensive ($800)
-Low bitrate in body recording.

So i put this way, if i want a FF camera the Canon 5D MKIII looks better on paper with a better codec and better high iso handle (higher price), and if can live with out the FF sensor then the GH3 will be a excellent choice at 50% less cost.

The Sony a99 is a nice camera but the image it generates is not better than the other options.

My two cents.

You can sharpen up the footage in post; it's relatively flat and not super sharp straight out of the camera. However, if you set it to +3 in sharpness it gets really nice and sharp, and doesn't appear from my tests to make the moire any worse.
The crop is only 1.2x, and that's ONLY with IS on. You turn image stabilization off, and there's 0 crop.
Lots of Alpha and minolta lenses, and some, like the 24-70, are dead silent for autofocus video shooting. You realize there's the entire Minolta line of lenses that work on this camera? Plenty more lenses than anything 4/3rds or micro 4/3rds; trust me.
There's clean HDMI out if you want to record to a Ninja or something else.
I used to own multiple GH2's, but the image I get out of the A99 it's not even close.

Also don't forget that sweet focus peaking that A99 has, as well as the articulated screen, and the IS is great for run and gun. Go walk around with an unstabilized GH2 vs. the A99 - it's like having a built in stabilizer.
Last, but not least - it does 1080p60, and 1080p24.
