Sony A7S + Small HD Focus issue

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with my A7s and SmallHD Focus OLED monitor.

When the HDMI output is set to display camera info, the histogram doesn't work properly (see attached image for reference). The peaks on the histogram are too small to be of any use.

When output is set to not display camera info, it's fine.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this or has any ideas as to a fix?

Information overlay can mess up the HDMI feed. Even if your histogram look normal, the white lettering in the text would show up as clipping or near clipping in the histogram, so one wouldn't use info overlay and then try to get accurate readings from it anyway.

Leave the image info ON and then use the Sony histogram, if that helps you.

Or use the camera screen for info, and just run clean feed to your smallHD.

Until the two brands figure out a way to integrate, there won't be a work around that does exactly what you want, as far as I know. Sorry, hope that helps in some way.

Thanks for the info. That does help - I hadn't considered using the Sony histogram.. makes sense :) Cheers!
