Sony A7s SLOG2 skin tones help

Hey guys,

I normally don't shoot in SLOG2 with A7s since I am not good at color grading at all and most of my work does not require much grading (TV stuff). I use SLOG2 only with LUTs and Inferno (preview of LUT helps a lot with exposure). Lately I filmed in SLOG2 because client saw Inferno's screen with LUT and loved it. But in post turned out that it was not good idea since skin tones look bit orange (typical A7s skin tones problem?:)) and I am not able to grade the footage better than LUT - this LUT I am using - https://vimeo.com/108150808.

Can someone please take a look at it and give me some advice? I am working in PP. Here is the tiff:

Many thanks!!!

The lut you are using is definitely not helpful. It's a teal/orange look that will only make the orange skin tone worse. Consider starting with the standard Sony slog2 lut issued by Sony, or other 'neutral' luts like those issued by Alister Chapman. Never a good idea to rely too heavily on what youre seeing in your monitor regarding log footage. DaVinci is great for manipulating image - much easier than PP - but roundtripping can be annoying, and PP is just as capable of simple stuff like this.

Much better option. Once you're confortable with how you'd grade your footage "by hand", then you can take LUT shortcuts for some parts of the process. Starting with LUTs and praying it will work is just hit-and-miss.
