Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows if the A7S will output 10bit to the Shogun, and also will it be able to do 120fps fullhd?

Cant seem to find any definate answers, thanks

Furthermore, there seems to be a consensus that the A7s does not (currently) output 120fps over its HDMI port.

Regarding 120fps to Shogun:

Atomos Brooke: "Okay, Sony have told me it's 1080p24/25/30/50/60 from HDMI. We will be able to do all those modes. So 1080p50/60 will be your best option, it should look better than the 720p mode." (August 18 at 1:30am)

Atomos Brooke: "UPDATE: We will be able to do 720p120 on the Shogun. (August 24 at 11:52pm)"

About 8-bit:

8bit internal

To be honest, I personally find that on this camera 8-bit vs. 10-bit makes less of a difference than on previous DSLRs, probably due to the better compression.

better compression and the profiles help a lot, most of the color setting u can be adjust inside the camera and it can easily give you the colour/feel you want and it is easier to tweak it compare to normal dslr limited profile setting. Fs700 internal code although avchd, i already can feel the difference in grading compare to other 8bit camera. If there is 9bit, i will call it as 9bit camera XD

It only records 8-bit, both internally and externally. With slog2, that's a big problem in theory, and absolutely no problem in practice. At least for me. YMMV.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I sold off my FS700 & Odyssey as I was able to get a fair price, and now have the A7S with the Shogun pre-ordered. Mainly I was hoping for 120FPS 1080P, my fingers are still crossed that somehow they can make that happen with the Shogun...
