Sony A7s & EF mount adapter

On the linked page there is a long list of lenses only supported for manual focus, including the 24-105 L. Can anyone confirm that only the "tested lenses" support AF? On the product page it also says the AF is "very slow", so how does the AF speed of the A7s/r + metabones compare to the 5d with EF lenses for stills?

As mentioned you need either the Mark III or Mark IV version for full frame, and I would not expect to get useable AF with these adapters, but then again all my lenses don't support AF on my metabones adapter. Personally I think I'm going to buy a used Mark III adapter since I don't want to buy an new adapter that will drop in value when they release the Mark V. Doesn't look like there's much of a difference. I owned the Mark I right when it came out and it worked great for non-full-frame applications.

Thats a good idea for those who don't plan on using AF with adapted lenses anyway. I didn't even think about going for an older model cheaper.

I just got my Mark IV adapter directly from Metabones HK and it took less than a week!

edit: well, you can get them at B&H now since they are in stock lol

While looking into buying a Metabones Mark III adapter used, I came across a lot of off-brand adapters that seem to have fairly good reviews as well. I just ordered one of these for $87:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/291135342480

It says it works with full frame NEX such as the A7R, and amazon and youtube reviews seem to confirm that it performs pretty close to metabones at a much lower price. The brand appears to be Commlite (logo looks like Ommlite, though, so some people call it that), though that hardly appears in the ebay listing except in one photo.

I'll let you know it works out.

I think I've fallen into the same problem, but, this one ordered already.. :-(

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TECHART-Ada...k-/161188267205?ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123

and I should've chosen this one instead:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TECHART-Ada...ens_Adapters_Mounts_Tubes&hash=item339052739e

that was stupid cheap picking, I thought it will probably work on the a7s but anyway I'll use it with my VG20..
I think I'll order the Metabones MKIV with the camera when its shipped.
and maybe the one I got may work on the a7s but with cropped capture?

Thanks,

Nice find Noah - do update on it - it sounds too good to be true!!

The only issue I've heard of is that the internal material is not matte enough, so some people have inserted flocking material to avoid internal reflections. I'll see how it is, if that's the worst problem it has, I'm happy to save the $300+ over metabones.

Any update on this id like to have a mount that can autofocus but I'd rather skimp on the price cause the metabones one doesn't look amazing.

I got my commlite adapter a few days ago. I did a quick test on my FS700 and it seems to work fine, IS works, and so does aperture. I did notice unusual behavior on my tamron 28-300 lens in that it had a bit of trouble with the ramping aperture, but I didn't get a chance to explore it yet. Seems like it should work out well though, the build quality is better than expected for the price so far.

I got the Commlite from Amazon (they call it Signtek) but it is obviously the same unit. I can't get IS to work. On my older Metabones adapter IS works fine, but they are meant for APS-C Emount camcorders. I have a FS700 but I recently got the A7s and therefore I wanted a full frame adapter for that camera. Here are my results comparing the adapters with the FS700 and the A7s. Any advice is appreciated. Maybe my Commite adapter is defective as I've heard IS works with the A7s.

Testing:

FS700: Note: FS700 generic error message (ErrMsg) on some functions:“Cannot execute functions because of the condition of the lens”

Using Sony E-Mount 18-200 zoom:

to Follow up with the Techart adapter, I received the Adapter labeled EOS-iNEX II
it works perfectly with my VG20, but for a7S it does some vignetting when used in full frame mode.

the vignetting is not so bad but it annoys me a lot. also while this adapter works flawlessly with camera with no startup issues or loss of control.

I think I will have to get a new adapter that is vignetting free.. any suggestions cheaper the 4th gen metabones?

Thanks,
