Sony A7s AF question

Ive never played around with AF on my A7s since all my lenses are adapted and manual, But I recently got a used kit lens (28-70) for a light walk around one. Ive noticed in video mode you cant AF on a subject and then recompose without it trying to continuously auto focus. In manual mode you can choose all of the AF modes, but once your rolling and pressed the record button it reverts to either continuous AF or have the option of Manual.

I wouldve really enjoyed AF in fast pacd situation and then recompsing but I doesnt seem to work, I was hoping to get more native glass for this reason alone. Is there a workaround to this?

Set manual AF, and put the "AF now" function in a custom button (that's not really the name but I don't remember how it's called). You press that and it focuses, then it won't move unless you adjust it on the lens or hit that button again.

Thanks Sam, Yes I found it. I totally forgot about the AF/MF back button. Ive been playing around with it and im happy with the Ctrl hold or af/mf toggle functions.
