At loooooong last the very long awaited Sony A6300 has been announced (along with 3 sweet sweet lenses, that Sony E mount desperately needs).

These specs in particular are juicy:

new 24MP BSI sensor (yay, BSI!)
11fps
4D focus
4K 30fps video (no pixel binning 14 stops dynamic range, 100MPS)
S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log-3 and S-Gamut3/S-Log3 profiles
1080p120 slow motion
Under US$1k (I think this price is quite reasonable compared to what a GH4 or NX1 was when first released. Yes, I'd like it to be less! So I can wait, once a sale arrives or it shows up secondhand/refurbished that should shave off a few hundred dollars fo rme)
Weather sealed body
422 over HDMI
Switchable NTSC/PAL (phew!! Thank goodness for that)
14bit photos
Mic jack input.

I no longer want a Sony A7s mk1 secondhand (which is a similar, or greater, price), I think I'll hold out on seeing this A6300 go on sale instead! :-D

Looks amazing! But hows the ISO performance? Thats why i just bought an a7S, and by the looks of it, i wont get rid of it either.

I take it the A6300 is a crop sensor?

ODD that it gets the .cine gamut while FS5 that costs many times more, does not.

Yes it is an APS-C sensor (though I believe it is rather silly to call a sensor "crop" when there are dedicated lenses for it!!).

S35 sensor size has been the standard for aaaaages.

And S16 in the film days was the standard for indie films.

So I'm quite happy to see APS-C! :-D

Sure the high ISO is not as good as the A7s, true, but I expect the A6300 still to be really good at low light!! Better than a Canon 5D mk3, which not that long ago everybody was calling the "low light king". (as after all even the older A6000 was already ahead of Canon)

sounds like a decent camera but I'd reign in the hyperbole - the a6000 is not better than the 5d mk3 in low light, be interesting to see how the 6300 is though particularly dr with slog3 and hopefully the sgamut 3 cine will take the edge off the 'Sony look' and play nice with skin tones

The Nikon D5200 is very close behind the 5Dmk3, the A6000 is almost the same sensor as the D5200 (just the A6000 has a slightly improved another fraction of a generation ahead) plus of course it has the E mount, which allows it a *whole stop better* in low light!! So yes, it is not at all unreasonable to regard the A6000 as superior :)
