Sony announced that it continues its support for HD by issuing an upgrade to the current 7d version of Vegas. The new update will provide support for AVC-HD cameras, of which Sony has 3 new models. Details of any other enhancements will be made in release. Current Vegas 7 users may upgrade FREE beginning May 1, 2007 according to the information.

With any luck it'll have it, since Sony's own V1U uses the same pulldown method to record its 24P. But no indication yet on Sony's site about any changes other than AVC-HD support. We should know more next week.

Says who and where? I haven't upgraded yet, but that might be worth it if it'll do the same thing on the HV20.

Is it doing a real, proper, field-accurate pulldown removal? Or just converting 60i to 24p?

According to Spot, it's a pulldown removal. But also according to the conversations on DVInfo, the HV20 is not supported.

keep us posted dave if you find out if update E will help for 24p in hv20 thanxxxxxxxxx dave

I have not been able to edit V1U footage properly yet in Vegas (or any other NLE for that matter). The only way I have found to edit V1u footage is to either edit in a 60i timeline (no thanks) or convert the V1u footage to DV and then manually remove pulldown from the footage. Lucky I don't really care as I don't really like the camera either so we rarely use one.

Actually, it's not mine, but one of our editors bought one and we have used it as a B or C cam on several shoots. Just whenever I edit the footage from it, there are always issues. It always tells me that the footage is 29.97, no matter what we shoot in. Personally I don't find it worth the time to try and figure out why.

Well I think the reason it tells you that is because it is 29.97. My understanding is like other 24p cameras, the V1U files come "wrapped" in a 60i package. Which is why you need software that can do pulldown removal on the fly, like Vegas.

does any one know if the update E is working for the hv20 to do 24p footage pulldown ???? do you know anything yet dave ?????????

Well that's exactly my point, Vegas is supposed to do pulldown removal on this footage, but it doesn't. When vegas does pulldown removal on footage it will say that the footage is 23.976fps not 29.97. Havn't tried the E update yet, is it up already?

Sadly, Vegas 7e (build 216) imports 24p footage from the HV20 as 29.970 interlaced, as before with 7d....

:(

Sad indeed :(
You know I don't think Vegas has had a build e since version 4. Not stating good or bad, just something I noticed.. . Am I a nerd?

I noticed in Vegas 7d there was a project setting that began with IMX

what is that?

Or is that short for IMAX ? lol.
3ds max has imax render templates similar to this but ofcourse with totally different resolutions. If its xd cam is there anything superior about xdcam footage , i mean better than HDV ?
