FS7: Sony 200-600 mm on FS7 any users?

I currently use a nikkor 500mm F4.0 for some nature clips. (and for safe distance interviews :) )But a zoomlens would be nice. The sony 100-400 or the sony 200-600 are the ones I like. What I don't like is the trumpeting 100-400.

Is anyone using the Sony 200-600 on the FS7? And how does it perform? IS, AF, balancing, and lens-support?

Thanks

The focus ring spins the wrong direction on Nikon lenses, so I use a Canon 200-400 f/2.8 with built-in 1.4x extender. That allows me to cover any focal length from 200mm up to 560mm without changing lens. It is a fantastic lens (especially for an SLR lens, which I am generally not in favor of using for video) with smooth focusing that has paid for itself over and over again. I highly recommend it. Works great on my FS7, F55, and S1H.

Not exactly what you are asking for but I used the latest G OSS Sony 100-400 when I shot some projects with the FX-9 recently. Not super impressed. It was okay but not as good as the Canon Gen 2 of the same focal length.
Not as sharp, the fousing wasn't nearly as good as the shorter Sony Zooms.

I bought the 200-600mm G lens for my FX9 a couple of weeks ago. I think it's an outstanding lens, super sharp with great rendering. The internal zoom mechanism is also much better than my old Sigma 150-600mm.

I shot a 200-600 on an A9 in Africa last year. Massive lens to carry but worked well on bean bag is safari vehicle or hand held. Did not shoot it on my FS7 before returning the lens (loaner from Sony). Sigma had also sent me a 150-600 but the thing was simply too massive. The 200-600 is a sharp lens and I think equal to the 100-400 GM.

I used it with an FX9. Have also used Canon's 100-400 and their other super telephotos. I probably wouldn't recommend the 200-600 for video. The AF doesn't track subjects, which we know, but the 200-600 also has fly by wire MF which is pretty much useless at 600mm.

I'd much rather use an adapted Canon lens because of their MF abilities.

I was also quite disappointed with the IS of the 200-600. It felt like a rudimentary implementation. If you have ever used one of Canon's new super tele's with their new generation of IS, it's really quite amazing. The 200-600 feels like what Canon was putting out 10-15 years ago.

I'd go with the Canon 100-400 and a 1.4x extender. That combo is unbelievably sharp, great IS, great MF, and excellent color rendition. Plus the resale on Canon glass is a lot stronger than Sony.

My experience is the exact opposite. I was doing 600mm traffic shots the other day with the 200-600mm on my FX9 and the AF tracking of individual vehicles coming straight at the camera was excellent. I think it's an outstanding lens.
