The FS700R is currently selling for $4599 with the 18-200 lens or $3999 without lens.
I do want a zoom lens for the camera but I am thinking of buying the camera without the lens and with the $600 savings, instead buying the 18-105 zoom lens.

I already own an NEX EA50U which has the kit lens 18-200 (I believe the same lens).
I do want to use both cameras for 2 camera shoots, but don't really need two of the 18-200 lenses.
I think the 18-105 is superior in most every way except for the shorter zoom.

The other idea is to buy the FS700R with the lens and then sell the lens. It looks like it sells for $1100 new so maybe I could sell it for more than $600 and use the money to buy the 18-105.

Any thoughts or gotchas I might need to consider?

You've got your answer. You already own the 18-200. Get the 18-105. I have both (and an EA50 as well). I've never felt the need to have the range of the 18-200 on both cameras or multi-cam shoots. But I don't know what kind of work you do. That said, the ONLY time I've used the 18-200 over the 18-105 is when I needed that extra range. Other than that the 18-105 wins every time. I have many lenses, but the 3 lenses I use most are the Sony 18-105, the Canon 24-105 f2.8L, and the Canon 70-200 f2.8L. The 18-200 rarely sees daylight.

I used to have the EA50 with 18-200 PZ but sold them. Now have the 18-105, but sure miss the range of the 18-200 when shooting live performances. Need to get one again. Having both would be great, so my suggestion would also to get the 18-105 instead of a second 18-200.
