FS7: Sony 100-400 G lens with FS7

I just unwrapped a box from good old England with my latest new lens, the Sony 100-400 4.5-5.6 G lens. It is dark now, so testing will have to wait till tomorow.

On paper it is a very good lens that even beats the canon 200-400 (on sharpness).

Pro:
- It fits on the FS7, no adapter needed which is nice.
- It is relatively light, a lot lighter then the Sigma 150-600 I had (and sold).
- Autofocus works. Not superfast but it works. Manual focus with focus button also works fine.
- Said to be supersharp
- Parfocal (as far as my first impression).
- Weather sealed lens.
- Has a cool G logo :-)

Con:
- 4.5-5.6, from 100-135mm it is 4.5 stops, from 135-150 it is F5 and from 150mm it is 5.6
- The lens support is a bit silly.
- no in-build extender, extender is 500$ and it is said that the lens performs very good with the 1.4 extender. (I don't have that one.)
- Trompet lens, using the zoom makes the lens longer. Can be a problem with balancing.

Tomorrow, if the weather is good, I want to shoot some test footage, and compare the lens with my nice (but aging) nikkor 50-300 4.5 zoom.

To be continued. If you are interested in certain aspects of this lens that I should test please let me know.

First impression, Nikkor does well. It is a sharp lens. I think the Nikkor will have some problems with contrast.

I tested 4 lenses with a test card, at 4 meter.
Sony 18-105
Sony 100-400
Nikkor 50-300 (vintage lens)
Canon 35-105 (vintage lens)

All lenses tested at 100mm and 1 stop.
