Sonoma Frame Grabes

Spent a week up in Sonoma in Northern California. These are some grabs from a short video I made.

Default F6 setting. Very sunny hot day so I had the ND at 1/64. Adjusted the iris so that 80% zebras only showed on obvious hilights.

The images were exported untouched as JPEG using High compression.

Cheers!

Re: Sonoma Frame Grabes

so crisp and clean, hard to believe it's digital. i don't see any stair-stepping at all. i'm very surprised. nice depth-of-field, by the way. good to see people posting better and better screens. this camera isjust full of surprises, it's mind-boggling. :)

dude, those don't even look like they were taken with a video camera, more like a nicer digital still camera.

Thanks for all the feedback! :D

Yup, these images have totally sold me on my camera. Especially since these are untouched and using the default F6 settings.

It's great to know I can shoot images of this quality as a base. Then, from there, be able to play with the scene settings to improve and fine tune.

I'm also learning the effects of various filters. Thanks to the DVX filter test DVD for some of this learning. Now, I just need to decide on a core set of filters (besides the obvious which I already have: UV, ND grad). I think having another ND for the shots above would have helped a bit to reduce the brightness without having to close the iris more.
