Somthing Strange

I was researching last night and i saw that most DVX made films are shot using a 1/24th Shutter Speed, and yet everyone tells me to stay away from that unless i am shooting in low lit areas.

Here Are The Films I Have Found Shot With A 1/24th Shutter Throughout The Entire Film

since most films on film are shot at 1/48th shutter speed, i don't see why you should shoot at 1/24th of sec shutter speed.
where did you read they were shot at 1/24th? are you sure they are not confusing it with the 24fps frame rate?

No, the DP Nancy "something" said on the panasonic website she used the 1/24th shutter. I e-mailed InDigEnt way way back and they said that 1/24th looks better in a film out so every film they make with a DVX camera will be shot on 1/24th. As for A Day Without A Mexican, in the behind the scenes on the dvd they show a field monitor hooked up to the DVX and the shutter reads 1/24. :)

interesting.
all this might make sense (even though it doesn't). this is the first time i hear about it though. i guess i should try...

interesting... This is a bit strange to me also... HOWEVER, when you say "on a field moniter" i would think it would show the FRAME RATE (24fps) opposed to the shutterspeed baluardo said.

is 1/48 the most common shutter setting?

i've got another setting question- is there much of a difference between 48k (16bit) & 32k (12bit)?

The only mention i saw about 1/24 being used in November was that Nancy Schreiber said she liked the fact the could drop into 1/24 on nighttime exteriors and not have to rely on a lot of additional lighting.
