Someone needs to say it.

Welcome to the Twitterverse-speak.

Here's a brief over view I just saw in a thread here.
I guess this is normal. God forbid anyone actually talk to each other. It might look unprofessional.

My friends girlfriend asked for half a dozen nuggets. The McDonalds kid serving said they come in only 6 or 12.

Gord... I agree (for the most part), but don't think your example is a good one. You were quoting from a film thread in HorrorFest.
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?311690-The-Monkey-s-Paw

When someone just announces that they are entering a film and there's really no information...other then they are planning on entering a film... there's not much to comment on!
The posts are considered more of a welcome to the fest, an "At-a-boy", pat on the back for actually taking the time & energy to MAKE a film. It also serves as a way to hold the OP'er accountable for finishing & entering the film.

You will notice that as a film progresses and more information is posted in the thread, the comments & questions get more involved. If you remember, back in the day (yes, I'm right there with you & getting old) the fest film threads were more of a production blog. People would ask advice, talk about planning & production roadblocks, post storyboards, set design, lighting diagrams and tell some of the funny stories from the set. Yes, they have changed and even though we haven't seen the 60-70 films entered in the past, I still think the fests are the best way to get fellow filmmakers to stop TALKING about the newest cameras & gear and make something. I always end-up learning something from every film, my own and all the other entries.

Now....as far as 'talking'....I think it's highly over-rated... TTYL!

I "was" just going to post "^+1" but wouldn't that be ironic given my rant?

I didn't want to single out a specific thread, just picked one at random after viewing several.
I agree with all of your comments Joe and thank you for putting my rant into context. I'm looking forward to all of the entries ofcourse, as always.

Sorry for starting the inevitable downward spiral. However, I wouldn't say that a short response is automatically any less valuable than a long-winded one. It also has little to do with being "in" with the current vernacular. If a short response gets the message across, why say more?

Downward spiral continued......

Which is the lesser of two evils: the terse response, or the "I beg to differ" followed by a windy, paragraph-laden diatribe on why the previous poster has no clue what they're talking about.

Jk lol

Oh great Scott!

By the way, have you heard about the "Pug Kicking Contest" they're having out in Las Vegas?

:D

Not at all and that's after a google search.

I've got two that could be used if they are low on candidates ...
