Someone give it to me straight...

Is there any place that I can get a DVX for a little less than $3300? I know about the "gray market" and EVS and everything, but has anyone bought one for less at another place and had a good experience? I don't want a warranty, I simply want what is supposed to come in the box. Also, what is the user discount at EVS, anyway?

I KNOW IT'S POSSIBLE!!!

Thanks...

Re: Someone give it to me straight...

if you don't care about warranty, or anything else for that matter, buy from any number of shops selling it for under $3K.

I'll pay for peace of mind and no hassle.

Re: Someone give it to me straight...

The bottom line is that I know about the Brooklyn scam shops and would like to avoid one of those, but I would buy in a second from a UNauthorized dealer that someone else has had a good experience with. I just want the camera to eventually show up for the price listed and I know that there are places that this will not happen.

Re: Someone give it to me straight...

Many people say they've been happy with their purchases from buydig and profeel.

From what I've read, they almost always end up buying a Mack warranty or some other accessories, and - son-of-a-gun, whaddya-know... the total bill is always over $3500 or so. So can you buy just the camera, and actually get it, for under $3300? I don't know.

The question to ask would be: did anyone ever buy the camera, just the camera, no accessories, no extended warranty, no nothing, just the camera all buy itself, from one of these gray marketers... and if so, what was the TOTAL bill, including shipping?

Authorized Panny dealer, not gray-market. Just got my DVX100A with them and all was good.

Both of these list for $3400. Even EVS has a better price than that, well, maybe not...

Re: Someone give it to me straight...

I would check any site you are looking at with resellerratings.com
You can find previous customer ratings of a whole lot of companies in there and get an idea if they are going to try to scam you are not.

Re: Someone give it to me straight...

I just bought mine today from willoughbys.com. The total was $3,407. This includes the $109 three-day service shipping. Mark, the supervisor, told me I'd get it next Thurs or Fri (which is 7-8 days from now, not three...) He did try to sell me some extra stuff, but he wasn't a jerk about it like the Brooklyn guys. He just tried to sell it to me, that was all. I told him no, and that was that.
I just had to cancel my credit card after ordering from 5starselectronics.com. I guess the new scam is that the camera they list on their site in a Japanese version (all menu funtions and the manual in Japanese, plus NO warranty), which would take 7-8 weeks to ship to me. Lying scumbags. I was yelling at the top of my lungs at a couple of them before slamming the phone down. I picked it right back up and called my credit card company.

After reading your post, I went to their website and was surprised to see it say:
Brand New Product.
Factory Sealed Box.
Manufacturer Supplied Accessories.
We accept all Major credit cards.
Satisfaction Guaranteed.

I guess nothing is sacred now. They'll promise anything to get our sale and then try to screw us over!

Re: Someone give it to me straight...

$107 for three-day shipping... :o

B&H charges $33 for UPS 3-Day Select shipping. They're a few miles from each other. So while Willoughby's charges $200 less for the camera, they get some of it back by overcharging on shipping. I know Willoughby's is authorized, but some of their practices make them seem a little bit too much like one of the gray market shops... but, you still got a killer deal, $3407 to your door is still one of the lowest prices, and as long as you don't fall for the "accessories" push, you did well.

I still think ProMax is the lowest-priced, authorized, high-service dealer around. They offer the DVX at $3359, and 3-day UPS shipping to me would be about $16.
