Some Zombie Fx- Help!

Hey everyone! I'm about to embark on my first real short (zombie-related) and I've been practicing with several different sfx materials and tools for a while now to get myself acquainted with gore make-up and effects. However, I'm still puzzled on two things that are necessary to my short...

1) What would you guys recommend for good eatable blood (needs to be okay tasting because the zombies will be holding this in their mouth for some time and will probably have so much that they'll be drooling the stuff!)

2) I've been using derma/morticians/nose/scar wax for my gore make up... but I seem to have an issue with it... it always falls off/peels off. sometimes it'll stay on for ten or so minutes and then just drop right off, and sometimes it won't even stay while I'm making the wound. I have even tried to use some spirit gum, though I may be using it all wrong. Any tips on how to get this stuff to stick better would be great!!

Thanks for all your help!

Try a can of ready made Cherry Pie Filling. Maybe crush up the full cherries a bit more in a blender. It's thick and very dark red. Almost black at about 1/2" depth.

And tasty.

smokeybear- awesome! Thanks, I'll definately sign on later on in the day and see if your on, because that would be great!

Raptor365- Thanks! I never would of thought of that! I'll see if i can buy some today so I can run some tests.

Blood: corn syrup, red food coloring and a bit of blue food coloring or chocolate syrup. totally edible. Less crap in it than most candy or a soda. Basically colored Pancake Syrup.

Make up: Liquid Latex (can buy a liter for $30) and shredded toilet paper and tissue (or even gauze or cloth). Add make up over top after surfacing the whole face and adding hanging bits.

A good slime for the zombies to spit up is Molasses, tastes overly sweet, but it makes a nice dark brown slime.

Does anyone have a video 'zombie makeup test how to'? As in a dude sitting in a chair and a little fast-forwarding as the make-up artist does the full zombie makeup?

I don't have any advice, just always glad to hear someone making a new zombie movie. Hope things are going well.
