some woodsy grabs

I am doing a Doc on a local man who planted a LOT of trees back in the late 1940s. We took a ride in his golf cart and I got these grabs from the DVX in mid September. It was about 3pm with some scattered high clouds. This used to be about 175 acres of corn field. I think he followed through on a great idea.
Other than resizing to meet file size requirements they are untouched.
I used the Century Optics .7x adapter which is pretty obvious in the top image and no added filtration.
When I was preparing the grabs I noticed a black band on the right edge of every image I opened. I know I've read about that here somewhere but can't remember if its anything to be concerned with. But at this point my main concern is about getting to sleep so I'm not gonna search for it right now.
Not looking for a filmlike product, but I'm a little worried about the gamma and saturation, and anything else you folks can spot that might help.
All comments welcomed.

I'll likely post a couple more done with a 2X closeup tomorrow.

Re: some woodsy grabs

Nice grabs especially the second. I notice the hat is flaring top front and background trees need a tad more contrast. I think I would have irised down a tad to kill the overexposed parts and used more fill to keep the detail in the shadows of the subject. maybe I'd add a touch of blue to help deal with the red cast, but that could be my monitor. I'm no expert I just looked at that grab and thought what I'd do different :)

I admire this man. He's doing the right things by planting trees. I love trees especially the ones that provides fruit. Trees gives life and we should respect them. I cut my tree last night cause I needed room to park my car. Kidding guys. Cool grabs soliton! You can actually use this to make a cool film. I like them. Put some more up. Thanks.

That's a great subject for a Doc. I wish you the best of luck. I'd love to see it after it's done.

Re: some woodsy grabs

Good stuff..I'd like to see the raw uncompressed images. These look nice! as said, I'd watch out for tiny hot spots like on his hat. I really like the way the trees bend in the first pic. More please

Re: some (more) woodsy grabs

Thanks for the kind words and constructive comments, very helpful.
When this was shot I'd had the camera, DVX100 - not A, for a week. I now have the advantage of Barry's DVX Book/DVD (excellent!) and am practicing incamera corrections for the 'hot hat syndrome' and other problems I've seen. Anyone just starting out with the DVX would do well to buy The DVX Book.

Here are some grabs as requested. As always I encourage your honest and specific remarks, especially if you don't like what you see. Learning this stuff is so much easier with all your help. Thanks!

This one has gone through PaintShopPro9 to cleanup JPEG artifacts and to slightly sharpen it. Shot with a simple 2X closeup.

Another closeup. I think this one's not too bad :)
