Re: Some Wedding Grabs

I do the same thing. I shoot with three cameras, 2 sony dsr-200a dvcams and my dvx-100a. For the ceremony I shoot 60i. Then for any picture taking or romantic type shots, as well as the reception footage, I switch to 30p with all the same settings for 24pn besides the framerate. It is amazing for the dances! I've had several comments on how dramatic the 30p footage is, as well as how nice it is intercut with the other two 60i cameras. Makes the bride and groom feel like they're the stars of their own movie... Still editing my latest wedding, as soon as I'm done I will post some grabs and video.

Re: Some Wedding Grabs

Hi people, I see u all are using the dvx100a for weddings... can you tell me how do you hold the camera? Cause I've read that this camera does very much wrist stain than a vx2000/pd150 and this during the 9-10 hours of an average wedding can be annoying... So, dou you recommend this camera for shooting handheld over the Sony's? Thanks.

DVRigPro! I'm telling you, I would never shoot without it again, with any camera! I've shot 8 hrs straight with it and have no back pain, no wrist pain, no pain at all! I'm heading out to New York in two weeks to shoot a documentary which I will be shooting for pretty much 10-12 hrs a day for 5 days, so that'll be the true test. So I'll let you know, but I'm telling you...DVRigPro...The best $$ I've spend since the DVX!

Re: Some Wedding Grabs

Tripod or monopod.  Many years ago, I got wrapped up in buying all kinds of stabilization gadgets.  For the most part, I found them just that: gadgets.  Besides wasting a lot of money, many times I looked like some sort of transformer robot (sorta embarrassing when running into a broadcast guy).  I now either use my shoulder mount DVC200 or when using the DVX and/or the VX2000's, I'll be on a tripod or Bogen auto-monopod with quick release.  Squeeze the handle and it adjusts up and down + you can hold it high above the dance floor or crowds easily.  When released, I either handhold like most, but a lot of the time I cradle the camera by my waist with LCD pointed up.  Makes for very stable handleholding and little to no fatigue.

Just my opinion.  I personally think you should use whatever works for you...For me, standard pods work the best.
