This weekend im starting to shoot my horror film.

any suggestions as to wat would prolly look good in a horror? I'm thinking...slow dolly shots and lots of closeups.

And im only working with 2 halogen lamps i have in my garage but i have some gels i got from my school that i can put on the lights.

Any other suggestions for camera and lighting?

I like the look when a light bulb is burning out and is flickering on and off and making a hum sound. Something about the anticipation of the room about to go black freaks me out. Add some orchestra music to that and people freak. The same effect can be had from a dying flashlight. What may or is about to happen and not knowing is much mory scary than watching someone get stabbed a bunch of times IMO.

Using low angles, and POV's are tried and true methods. Revealing only what needs to be seen, and leaving out what is desired to be scene by use of cinematography will help as well.

Slapping the audience around with different and dynamic angles is great.
Slow dollies are great.
POV is cool.
Showing only what you need to show is my favorite.
Read the script and play the movie in your head. Decide on the type of shots from there. The images will come.

Try watching that one horror movie that has always scared the "ish" out of you and dig into it. Find out why it worked so well.

Stretch the blacks a bit I think, depending on what you want to reveal in the shot....major shadowing is always good. Blue tint in post maybe... It all depends on what you want to achieve

I think there are so many options, you may want to consider this weekend a test weekend and write your settings down.

I have been wanting to film my daughter in the style of "The Ring" she's the perfect model for that. But I might be afraid of her the rest of my life lol.

fast shutter speeds, i love em. (but remember to crank up the lights)
that or you could always try some stop motion if you have endless amounts of time. Watch Tetsuo: The Iron Man, porbably the creepiest/most disturbing movie of all time.

large scary shadows created by plaicing one strong light far away from the wall and having the subjext stand infront of the light
