Some prelim question about shooting with the JVC

Hey all I have a few questions about what I am going to need in order to go through the whole "film making process" with the jvc. I understand I will need a capture card in order to edit. Is this a must have, or is there a way to go on without it. Also what kind of video card would I need in order to edit the HD. I have a mac book pro with a 128 card in it. I am not sure if that will suffice. Any other glaring needs I am overlooking in regards to this subject. Thanks a bunch for your help. Thor

You do not need a capture card to edit providing that you have a NLE that will edit the HD100 files. Some people were using a capture card to get around some compatibility issues with their software. If you have Firewire you are good to go.

Video card will not matter as much as system performance: RAM, HD Speed/Space, Processor.

You should view your NLE system specifications.

Well thanks that just about covers it. I am planning on using final cut pro. I understand that I may need some additonal software to capture the data but that is a bunch less than a capture card, (or maybe final cut 6 will come out and I wont have any thing to worry about.) In any case I think you just about sold me. Thanks a bunch. I may be back with more questions. Take Care, Thor
