Some of my C4D work...

Hi Gord, thanks for the interest. I have a little more finished with the camera map I'm getting some reflection maps for the windows but I got sidetracked by a client so my normal little bit of free time is now completely filled. I can't complain it seems to be a fun project. Some rigging.

Nice Josh. :)

I got a rig of Daisy Duck that Disney did from work so I could look at it... holy ****... all I'm gonna say... lol

Hey Tom, thanks.

That's cool Daisy Duck I bet its scary haha! Hows everything with you? Been playing with 3D still?

Sorry to hear that. It's a good skill-set to be able to fall back upon.

Well, you'll find something else you like better. Or, more likely, you'll be so inundated with acting work next year that you won't have the time.

Now that would be great... actually be able to make a living as an actor...

I guess my back up plan is to do this web development crap which I love so dearly (or go and work on Ferraris...)

I remember a friend of mine had a mid-80s Porsche he was fixing up so I gave him a ride to go pick it up. This was several years ago, but I distinctly remember there was a Lamborghini Diablo up on the rack and the engine was on an engine stand. I remember thinking... wow, this is so f'ing cool...

Tom, acting is a great asset into animating.
You don't necessarily have to know how to model, texture or even rig. Just have knowledge of how to use a rig. Good character animation requires acting knowledge/ability/talent so maybe before you give up you might want to have a look at that. The 11SecondClub leans towards that area. I don't know, I think you could have an edge up on the other guys in that area. Just saying...

Alright, back to Josh's thread. :cheesy:

^ sorry for me-tooing but I think that's a good observation: since physical performance is part of the acting craft, actors may very well have a leg up when it comes to rigging and animating characters.

Good stuff to think about. Thanks Gord and Karl.

And yeah, Josh, back to your thread. :) I'll take a look when i get back home to my PC instead of typing this on my cell phone.

Yes, back on-topic...that was very cool. Well, hot. I'd love to see it comped against a background...

...you ever play with animating zero-g fire?

Thanks Karl (that is your name right?), I can't wait to comp some 3d fire either! I'll be working on a commercial soon that will be shot on the RED and I will be adding fire/smoke. When it's finished I will post it here.

Here is another test. Just testing different settings at this point.

Zero g fire? I'm not sure what that is. I will have to google it. So nope I haven't played around with that, yet. Or by zero g do you mean zero gravity? If nope I haven't but that sounds like a interesting test.

Is that C4D? Looks pretty good. Fire is a tough one so grats on that. Smoke looks good too.
