Some Noob Settings Questions

OK a quick question that prob. has a lot of variables of answers...
I've looked through a lot of threads and it seems that 720p24pN is the favored choice of recording.

I begin work on a feature tommorow and have had expereince with the DVX but only got the HVX yesterday so while i have become accustomed to the basic functions, i really have not experimented with the different settings, nor do i really have the time.

So in other words, i'd rather trust the dvxuser community for settings than anyone else in the world.

The feature producer wants it to look as much like film as possible. Were shooting on p2s.

So i guess actually a couple of questions,

Should i use f6 cine d or f5 cine v?

and what are the pros of the 1080i24p/24pa settings versus 720p24pN

And finally a concern, in the recording setup menu under 480i all i see is dvcpro50
regardless of the settings.... I think i want to be using dvcproHD/100? How do i do this and DO i want to be using it?

Well, hopefully someone can lay it out for me...

I'm also interested in people's experience with the cine curves. Do they create pleasing results so that I wouldn't have to do much work in post to achieve that look? Or would it be better to have as much colour information and exposure latitude recorded so you can do things like this in post. I'm talking about feature work here, I understand for news where turnaround is fast it would be a godsend.

Also Hilarity I don't own an HVX but from what I understand 480i is a SD setting same as DV and DVCPRO-100 is like you said an HD codec. 480p (if there is a setting like that on the HVX) is where a DVCPPRO HD record setting would first show up as far as I know.

WEll i guess the issue still is, i see the 480i setting, i see DVCPRO-50, how do i utlize it? I guess i shoot in a few hours so if anyone has the hearty to help me out with that and my above questions before i go into this blind, i'd be in their service forever...

If you're in 720p or 1080p mode, you're always in DVCPRO-HD. That's the only format that you can use when in 720 or 1080.

DVCPRO50 only applies if you're in 480i standard-def mode.
