Some new timelapse footage...DVX, 35mm, HD - MIXED

Thanks everyone!
Timelapse is something I Hate to do, but I have to do it every cool city or place I travel to...I guess to build up stock. It's a love/hate relationship though cause I'm in love with the results.

About 60-70% was 35mm. The remainder was shot on DVX. With the exception of the timesquare stuff which was the Z-1 HDV. I don't endorse the Z-1 camera by the way...It was what I had access to that night. A buddy of mine was shooting "TL" with the Nikon D2X that night too...wow that stuff is hot! --- (Next possible Purchase)

All digital footage shot real time and was processed through "Intervalometer" software - Istopmotion
All 35mm was shot on an Arri 2C w/ a Norris Intervalometer - Timelapse done in camere

The song is "Transitions" from the Beastie Boys

I only checked out the time-lapse section and for the most part I liked what I saw. Good stuff. So was most of that shot on film? I did some time-lapse a couple months ago and use to post it here. But I didn't have any DVX clips with the last post so it got moved. Next time I'll just make sure that I have some DVX stuff with the time-lapse. BTW, I shoot all my TL with a Canon 20D.

how did you set up your camera on in the city, did you hide it or something or did you stand next to it for the longest time?

Drew,

I've been experiementing with TL on the digital rebel controlled by my ibook canon's "remote capture" - i can only get my intervals down to 8 seconds or so (processing and downloading to the computer) - you must be doing everything in camera? and what are your intervals? thanks!

mediamilitia,

great stuff. I like the change up of locations. It's not as peaceful as other lapses I've seen. Maybe it's the editing "cut to opposing motion" thing. but it's good nonetheless! thanks.

Jonnyh1968, when I first started doing my TL stuff I used a Digital Rebel 300D and hated it. It would look okay but the buffer on the camera wasn't big enough. If your going to use that camera to do time-lapse, I would recomend getting one of those IR controllers. Its what I used at first and worked okay. I have a wired remote for my 20D and that works great. Your bottleneck also might be using the computer to store the images. I think you can change it so it dumps all the pics onto the flash card. That might speed it up.

The intervals that I used on most of my stuff was around 2 seconds. But the Drive Lapse stuff I think is around half a second. I've also started using 1 second intervals for the beginning credits on a short that I'm working on. I'll post it here once its done. Hope that helps.
