Wouldn't it be nice if you got more replies to the clips you post on this board?

I really hate this board sometimes, but It can also be a very good "rating system".

After posting my grabs and clips, for the last few months. I noticed I do not get many, or hardly any comments on my work. I know this has a lot to do because most if it is wedding work.

But here is the truth about this board - You're work is only as impressive as the replies you have to your thread. I mean think about it. If YOU think someone's work is "OK", "BASIC", "BORING" or "I can do better then that", you will NOT reply to it.

Ray I just wanted to let you know that I am replying to your post. You're work is just fine. Wish some of us had the opportunity to tape more music videos.

I'm out.

Hey John,

I'm just trippn :-) Just feel kinda bad when some guys post and only get like 1reply. We should comment on everyone, as most of us are still learning!

Trying to call us out and saying you hate this board is no way to get on our good side.

However, I'm sure waycooljr would appreciate the input as you say.

I suppose my favorite grab was the last one... the wide shot.

It was cool the way the 'magenta' colored backlights cut a beam through the smoke.

The silhouettes of the audience in the foreground was nice in that it contrasted well against the band members. It sort of helped to emphasize the band.

It might be better if you had a grab of the WS that had the singer facing the audience or in a more interesting pose.

Terry, I really don't hate the board. I actually love it! But I just feel for others at times, that is all.

If I hated this board I wouldn't visit it 10 times a day :-)

I see your point Mark. It can be frustrating not to get any feedback. I think, like all art, that some pieces move others while others do not. Ive seen some work submitted here that did absolutely nothing for me whereas others are all over it and visa versa.

I see your point and I personally try to comment on most of the stuff submitted. However, some stuff is so damn blase its like "If you aint got nuthin nice to say....."

I am totally with Terry and Mike with this one. Those pinks are outstanding! I love that last grab. The light 8) Ahh, the DVX is such a great camera especially when someone holding it knows how to use it! Lets see some clips bro! I want to see that band and some of those lights in action! What were your settings at when you shot this?

Hey all, I filmed at the same club lastnight and to my suprise, they invested in an all new stage lighting rig complete with new media friendly gells. I will upload some new samples soon.

As for the old lights, most of those gells were totally burnt out giving you that washed out look.

The settngs I used were Scene dial 6, 24A with the shutter at 1/24, manual focus (#89), manual iris set at f 4.0, OIS off. 0 IRE

Last night I left the shutter off, not sure what speed that is. The video looks much crisper due to the new lighting.

If someone could share the best rendering settings for the web, I would be glad to provide some clips on my site for everyone to look at. Still learning this Vegas software. I think I have my audio finally dialed in as well thanks to Joe from J.Tall Audio. He owns the house sound system and is well know in the business.
