Some good news for me

While not in the Tom Hanks category, I got some good news this week.

1. The local symphony orchestra is interested in writing a piece specifically for one of my films (a new one I'll be working on) and is currently applying for a grant.

2. I was interviewed by a reporter from the local newspaper about my filmmaking last night...I put in a good word for the DVX   :D

3. My local cable channel has picked up the second part of Water's Edge for a twice daily broadcast.

The interesting thing about all of this is that I didn't solicit any of it....it was all word of mouth.

Next stop: world domination   ;D

Hey, can you post a link to waterfront? I saw Mary Moore Park on your site from a link at the forum but haven't seen the other one. In fact, if there are others, please let me know. I've enjoyed what I've seen very much. Congratulations.

Nice work! Really nice. I particularly like the handheld work in the second waterfront piece. Is that just you and the camera or do you have a harness system (I forget the name). Also, in the first water front how did you get the roiling cloud sequence? It looks like you were eye level with them.

hey thats awsome man! congrats on all the accomplishments. you really deserve the breaks, as your work is outstanding, and fresh. ..and when it all comes down, could you just not dominate my little corner of the world.. we like to be free around here :P

p.s. it is fine by me if you want to dominate  the loud barking dog next door . he should be dominated with extreme prejudice.. using a blunt object. ..just kidding of course. when i get mad enough ill do it myself.. just kidding again of course..

I kept reading about "Water's Edge," but for some reason never actually had seen it myself (until now.)

Wow. Beautiful imagery - very tranquil...congratulations on getting the TV bit! It's no doubt, though, seeing the quality of that video...

I saw your Waters Edge video a while back. I feel proud to own the same camera that was used to shoot that outstanding video! Now if only i had the same skills . . .

Wonderful job.

If I may try to analyze why that video is so wonderful - it displays a little of all of the best cinemagraphic skills, but overdoes nothing. It's pulls you right into what you are shooting in such a way that you're not thinking about the camera work - it directs your focus in a way that doesn't draw any attention to the camera work, yet, paradoxically, it is that very camera work and editing that allows you to be drawn in that way. While we must give a lot of credit to nature, you could shoot nature 100 different ways that would bring yawns to our faces, yet this creates heightened interest in the material and makes you feel like you just experienced a touch of paradise.
