Been busy, so haven't been on the forum much lately, though have been doing some volunteer work with Sea Shepherd the past couple of months. Here's a couple of the photos from my time so far in Hobart, Tasmania. Come from a background in video, though trying to improve my photo skills. Criticism would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Thanks for all the feedback! and cool to hear others on here know about Sea Shepherd! Just picked up a 50mm f1.4 Canon FD. getting the hang of manual focusing.

Pretty good work Sam.

I like the sepia tone on the first group portrait shot - good capture.

I think the welder shot would have looked better shot on tripod with a slow shutter speed to streak the sparks a little bit and add some drama.

The closeup of the Cauliflower was amazing....so fractal. I would have preferred to see more of this detail so cropping in / zooming in to this detail would have returned a better image IMHO as the rest of the plant was a little distracting. Still a very interesting image.

Much of the work of a photog these days involves a deft touch in photoshop and post processing techniques...but of course you need to get a workable image to begin with which you have in most of these shots.

Cheers
