Some D90 shots in a Z1 job

Madness to shoot testimonials changing primes and overheating the camera. Madness to set the workflow between HDV and 24p MJPEG.

But all and all, a good way to spice up a simple Z1 industrial...

It's in portuguese, but you can enjoy the images and soundtrack :)

A short doc about the inspirations for the current Levi's collection in Brazil. We talk a lot about Cuba and Marrakesh...

Anyway, don't think it's top quality D90, but it's an interesting development...

Nice job matching between the two cameras with such different feel to the footage. Interesting project. Thanks for posting.

That was some really nice stuff man. The good news is that video officlaly made up my mind not to get the D90, it is too damn soft. Shame.

But i love your stuff though! very nice!

It's not that soft, the Z1 is just too oversharpened... It only looks soft in comparisson.

But yeah, the problem with the D90 is working with the Mark II. It's impossible to go back afterwards...

The Canon is that much better? Some people seem to think that it's not worth three times the cost of the D90. Both have limitations for shooting video and both are early models of the coming tide of DSLR's that shoot video.

What makes the most difference for you? Do you recommend moving to the 5D?

The image quality is definitely superior, and the increased sharpness is ... But you know what? Usability. The 5D chooses a better shutter, in my personal taste, and it's an easier beast to control, even though it gives you false information about the settings, it gives you something and you can interpret that with good accuracy.

Number one reason, though? It doesn't overheat.

30p is the "only" downside really, especially if you use nikon lenses with an adapter and thus get manual control, but unfortunately it's a dealbreaking downside for what i need a camera for.

It's well done though it looks very soft to me. Especially cutting from the super sharp and in-focus Z1. Also, it was stuttering badly during all of the pans on YouTube. Strange since I let it buffer. Does YouTube do strange frame rate conversions like Vimeo?

It probably does.

Most of the images we're not in optimal focus. I was constantly fighting the camera to get my coverage done, especially with the overheating bugs. Remember that I'm in Brazil, so everything tend to overheat...

30 fps in the Canon is certainly a drawback... :(
