some D3s video

of course your not.
It is a awesome camera no matter what you think. The video not up to some people standards? I think no matter what, you get limited video with any DSLR and that includes the 7D that is also limited.

There will be many pro photographers who get this camera over any other DSLR for a lot of reason and others will continue think they just bought the Holy Grail of HDSLRs for under $2,000

"But video does take advantage of the D3S's hunger for light, so the dynamic range is wide as hell with High Sensitivity Movie mode, and the D3S's video mode is overall more capable than Nikon's previous video-shooting DSLRs with full aperture control, faster AF in live view and a stereo input. A new algorithm also alleviates some of the weird video problems Nikon's had before, supposedly."

And from the press release: "The refined D-Movie mode for the FX-format offers smooth 1280x720 video at a cinematic 24fps, with a new algorithm that severely reduces the phenomenon of "rolling shutter" typical to D-SLRs while panning."

But it's so expensive!!!

Sorry, not impressed!

It's a pretty crap video IMHO - but I just don't care for the photographer's visual or editing aesthetic.

This is a better demo, I think; low light, and obviously shot with very long lenses for safety reasons

Of course, both this and the expected Canon1d update are big $ items aimed at pro still photographers. But it's an interesting demonstration of where things ae going, this kind of high ISO performance will be the norm in a few years.

OK. Not happy about no 1080p. Not happy about them not seeing the value of Full Manual...(maybe it is, but they sure didn't say it was...so won't be surprised if it's not...and DUH...WHY NOT!!) Hate the pricepoint...I get it, the cost is the result of it's gawdy still photo muscles.

OK: that all being said. No QUESTION. This isn't the same as the D90. The difference between the D90 and the D300s, made its launch a non-event for us video folks. I'm NOT saying that this is a "big arrival"....some aspects of it just don't make sense for most of us. (cost first and foremost) BUT....it's nice to see SOME improvement/change to their video imaging. I know I'm being ridiculously forgiving by saying this, because....let's face it....their video showing over the past year has been flat out pathetic....I know...their a pro photog's knight in shining armour...yadda...yadda...yadda...BUT SNAP!!! Their core image processing is NICE....just fix a FEW THINGS and Nikon will be a legitimate option. Right now...they're not! (1080P, Full Manual, additional framerates) Canon figured this out and responded in less than 6 months....DUH! I know their NOT PERFECT, but no question, they are the more flexible option for video folks...RANT RANT RANT!!!!! I know .....I'm going to puke listening to myself!!!!! The only problem is that IT'S ALL SOO FREAKING TRUE!!!!!!

OK...(I took some meds) I am glad to see some different video image processing from Nikon. Way to go guys! Have a nice day! Hakunamatata(sp?)!

That video could have been shot on any HDSLR, if anything it made my decision to buy a D700 for my stills work even easier.
