I am in the process of making a short film. The very first footages came out ok even though i did my best to capture the objects nicely. When i uploaded the footage, i wasn't happy at all. So i went ahead and did:
- Brightness/Contrast adjustment
- Color Corrector adjustment

Let me know what u think.

well, i think it looks great. the corrected frame looksvery good. be sure to get proper white balance when shooting though. it has more advantages than just getting the right colors.

Re: Some correction in post....

For the newbies (that's me), would you please expand on the "Secondary Color Correction adjustment" that you did - in a kind of step by step? I think your corrected grab looks awesome, and I';d love to be able to correct in the same manner.

Thanks Neir R, Peter Gaudry

Peter... i am not adept at any of the NLEs out there.. However i use Vegas 5.0 for my editing and correction. I keep adjusting the various color levels to get the look i need. It's a tried and tested (trial n error) method.. which works for someone like me who has hardly any knowledge with NLEs.

My suggestion is keep playing with ur footages till u get what u want. Good luck

Re: Some correction in post....

Peter - Primary correction is a global adjustment - and works on the whole image. Secondary correction is selecting a single colour range (with an eyedropper) and adjusting that alone.

Beware trial and error corrections. A reccomended CC workflow is to sort the tonal range ( in B & W if you wish) first. That is levels (luma and gamma) then adjust colour. Levels control (like in Photoshop) is instrumental in obtaining the base for all CC

Re: Some correction in post....

Nice color correction. Looks great!

Is this the sequel to "The Man With One Red Shoe"? ;D

Re: Some correction in post....

Thanks all.

I still have so much to learn - filming as well as post-production.

White Balancing still has me unsure... I need to read the tutorials on this server to understand more.

Thanks agin.

Re: Some correction in post....

the CC grab looks very film like, what changes did you do in secondary adjustments ? (which ranges) ?

Thanks,
Derrick

Re: Some correction in post....

I mistyped... I used Color Corrector and not secondary. Kept moving the pointer to get the desired color. Nothing complicated.

Didn't do anything to adjust the sharpness. The alteration of the color makes the object stand out... which is why you notice the difference.
