for anyone interested, I took some Z1U and HVX footage into shake and looked at the YUV color space, here are some blown up stills of the V, (Cb) color channel, the most telling for compression, etc.

1) HVX200 at 720p 4:2:2 (an ear)

2) Z1U shooting HDV 1080i 4:2:0 (a chin)

3) Z1U shooting DV SD 4:1:1 (but lower rez blowed up more, thus the size diff)

Use my free "G Take" plugin from www.nattress.com for FCP. Should give more accurate results for showing Cb and Cr as there's no RGB transform involved at all, and that does give extra false detail.

wow just checked it out, I have to say the footage I shot is pretty noisy in the CrCb realm
